Tour Description

The tour starts out with a 40-minute hike through pristine jungle to the entrance of the Crystal Cave. During this walk the guide will point out tracks of wild animals and show you the many birds and insects living in this wonderful National Park.

The Crystal Cave is seen as the entrance to the mystical and most sacred area in the Maya Pantheon. You will enter the cave by a 40 feet rappel that gently lowers you into the first chamber. From here the Crystal Cave system goes through miles of huge caverns that are adorned with beautiful and crystalline cave formations. Each step of this tour will take you back further in time to when Shamans and Priests journeyed through the underworld.

The walk inside Crystal Cave will take you to Xibalba, the Maya underworld, where ritual ceremonies were performed. Evidence of these ceremonies, such as artifacts, pottery, beads, obsidian knives, fire pits and human skeletons, can still be found in this chamber.

Price: $ 90.00 US (includes guide, transportation, fees, lunch and caving equipment)
